Hubenschmidt Brings GLA Insight to Arkansas Women in Higher Ed Group

Holly Hubenschmidt, head of Instruction, Liaison, & Reference Services in the University Library, was keynote speaker for the annual spring conference of the Arkansas Council of Women in Higher Education (ACWHE), where she shared thoughts and theory about how Webster University’s Global Leadership Academy builds distributed leadership for its participants and the University.

Leading from Where You Are

Hubenschmidt’s keynote shared insights from Webster’s Global Leadership Academy with ACWHE members.

ACWHE is a professional organization of emerging and established leaders from colleges and universities across Arkansas. Over 100 members representing public, private, and for-profit colleges and universities in the state attending the one day meeting on the campus of the University of Central Arkansas, in Conway, Arkansas.

Hubenschmidt was asked to speak on, “Leading from Where You Are,” which is part of the mission of GLA, of which Hubenschmidt is a co-director. “It was an honor to speak to such an engaged group of women from higher education institutions throughout the state,” Hubenschmidt said. “I’m so proud that Webster University supports this organization.”

Little Rock Area Director Kelly Lyon, a member of the 2014 GLA cohort, invited Hubenschmidt and introduced her at the luncheon session. “Inviting Holly to speak was a direct result of our shared experience in the Global Leadership Academy,” Lyon said. “As one of the GLA co-directors, Holly had a unique perspective to bring to the group.”

“Holly’s remarks were right on target to motivate our members to assume even greater leadership roles in the respective colleges and universities,” said ACWHE president Kimberly Klotz.

ACWHE education presented Hubenschmidt with an Arkansas Traveler Certificate, from the Arkansas Secretary of State. The certificate is given to recognize and honor visitors from out of state.
