Webster Players Awarded Baseball Honors, Kurich Named 2015 Coach of the Year

Webster University 2015 baseball team advances to the upcoming NCAA Division III Championship “World Series.”

Josh Fleming, Kyle Uhrich and Jeff Kammer picked up d3baseball.com All-Central Region honors, while head coach Bill Kurich was named the Central Region Coach of the Year for 2015. For Kurich, it was the third straight year he earned the honor from d3baseball.com.

Freshmen pitcher Fleming and sophomore first baseman Uhrich were both First Team All-Central Region selections, with senior third baseman Kammer, who leads Webster with a .394 batting average, and has nine home runs and 42 RBIs, was named to the Third Team.

Additionally, Fleming was named the 2015 Central Region Rookie of the Year. Fleming stepped right into the Gorloks rotation and is 7-2 on the season. He has a 2.21 earned-run average, with 83 strikeouts in 81 1/3 innings pitched.

Uhrich is currently tied for the NCAA III lead with 17 home runs this season, and is batting .364 with 61 RBIs. The 17 home runs set a new single season record for the Gorloks and his 61 RBIs is the third highest total in a single season.

St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Honors

Fleming was the 2015 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Newcomer of the Year, and Fleming, Kammer, and Uhrich were All-Conference First Team selections. Kurich was the SLIAC Coach of the Year, the sixth time he has earned the honor.

Including ABCA/Rawlings honors, Kurich has been named the region Coach of the Year five times.

Webster University, who advanced to the upcoming NCAA Division III Championship ‘World Series’, led all SLIAC teams with three members on the d3baseball.com All-Central Region team.
