CMS Summer Chamber Music Encounter: Applications Due March 12

| March 9, 2015

The CMS Chamber Music Encounter is open to violin, viola, cello and piano students.

The Community Music School of Webster University (CMS) is accepting applications for this summer’s Chamber Music Encounter, June 15-19. The application deadline (postmarked) is March 12 and space is limited. Auditions will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2-5 p.m. and Sunday, April 12, 1-4 p.m.

At the Chamber Music Encounter students learn the skills and repertoire of this wonderful music form, where compositions are performed by and written for an instrumental ensemble with one player for each part. Professional chamber musicians and CMS faculty well experienced in chamber group settings will coach trios, quartets, and quintets. An essential ingredient of chamber music is the pleasure of playing together. Guest performers and speakers will share their tips for successful chamber music performance and ensemble development.

Chamber Music Encounter is open to violin, viola, cello, and piano students through high school that are at or beyond the following representative skill levels:

  • Violin: Suzuki Book 4-Vivaldi a minor Concerto
  • Viola and Cello: Suzuki Book 4
  • Piano: Clementi Sonatina or Kuhlau Sonatas
