Pre-Super Bowl Spots Kick Off Spring II Recruitment Campaign

As Americans across the country tune into Super Bowl coverage this Sunday, many will be more focused on the commercials than the game itself. If you’re watching in St. Louis, look out for Webster University.

Look for new billboards in the St. Louis area aligned with online and radio commercials for the Spring II campaign.

No, the University hasn’t bought an in-game ad, but Webster did secure several four-second calls to action appearing on St. Louis NBC affiliate KSDK-TV (channel 5) before and after the station’s broadcast of the game,  the most-watched telecast in the country.

Global Marketing & Communications took advantage of this opportunity as part of the messaging for Spring II advertising. The brief spots (voice over: “Webster University. Apply now. Start in March.”) align with upcoming ads to promote specific programs and drive enrollment.

“Driving recruitment is always top of mind, and this is traditionally the time to begin the Spring II push,” said John Costello, director of Creative Services in GMC. “So in our annual planning we schedule ad placements, adapt the creative accordingly, and take advantage of economical opportunities like these local pre- and post-Super Bowl commercials. They will complement our online, outdoor and radio commercials that elevate the institution and promote high-demand programs.”

Look for similar messages popping up online and on outdoor billboards in the St. Louis area in the coming weeks.

And as a reminder, undergrad recruitment for next fall is already underway: Spread the word about the next Freshman Preview Day Feb. 16.
