Two Soccer Players Earn Honorable Mention for 2014 NSCAA Scholar Teams

Gorloks Jessica Davis and Jeff Wallner received Honorable Mentions for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America 2014 Scholar Teams.

Senior soccer players Jessica Davis and Jeff Wallner both earned Honorable Mention distinction for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s (NSCAA) 2014 Scholar Teams.

The duo were honored for their performance on the field of play and in the classroom by being named to the North/Central All-Region teams for men and women.

Davis, a goalkeeper, is majoring in media communications at Webster and carries a 3.84 cumulative grade point average. Davis was 5-0 in play in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC), with four shutouts as the Gorloks finished 9-0 in conference for a second straight season. Davis was a SLIAC All-Conference First-Team selection for a third straight year in 2014. She was 9-4-3 overall for the season and finished with a career GAA of 0.65, the second lowest in Webster history. Davis ended with the most career wins (44) and shutouts (31) for Webster.

Wallner, a defender and CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2013, is a mathematics/secondary education major who carries a 3.97 cumulative grade point average. He was a key defender of the defense for the Gorlok men’s team that finished first in the SLIAC at 8-0-1. Wallner played 68 games in four years for the Gorloks, scoring five goals and adding eight assists. He was named to the SLIAC All-Conference Third Team in 2014 and the All-Conference Second Team in 2013.

Davis was the only women’s player from the SLIAC to receive 2014 NSCAA Scholar honors and Wallner was one of just three men’s players from the SLIAC honored.
