Faculty Research Grant Information Session Oct. 7

Provost Julian Schuster, the Office of Academic Affairs, and the Faculty Development Center invite faculty members to attend a one-hour information session focused on writing successful proposals for Faculty Research Grants and applications for the Wilma and Roswell Messing, Jr., Faculty Award at Webster.

Participants will have an opportunity to speak with a panel including last year’s Messing Award winner and Faculty Research Grant recipients. The panelists will share their expertise and experience with the application process, as well as the utilization of the research funding they received; they will have time to answer questions following the panel discussion as well.

This session will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 7, at  3 p.m. in the Faculty Development Center (Emerson Library Suite 420). Refreshments will be provided. All eligible faculty members are invited and encouraged to attend.

The Faculty Research Grant program is designed to encourage and promote faculty research and professional development. Grant applications are invited for scholarly research, academic projects, artistic performances, exhibitions, and studies in any discipline.

How to Apply for the Awards

Grants are awarded to applicants with the strongest potential to advance academic excellence for the individual faculty member and for Webster University. For complete details and eligibility criteria, view the 2015 Faculty Research Grant call for proposals [PDF].

Known as the Messing Faculty Award, the Wilma and Roswell Messing, Jr., Faculty Award is presented to a full-time faculty member for summer activity which will strengthen the curriculum of his/her department or improve the teaching/learning relationship. The award, a stipend in the amount of $4,500, funds international travel and other expenses related to the summer activity. View the 2015 Messing Award announcement [PDF].

This year’s deadline for both the Faculty Research Grant proposals and Messing Award nominations is Monday, Nov. 3.
