Incoming first-year-student Joshua Tyler has been selected as the recipient of the Webster University Dr. Donald M. Suggs Scholarship. Tyler will receive up to $100,000 toward his Webster education during the next four years.

This is the second year that Webster University has awarded a Suggs Scholarship. Suggs is a St. Louis area oral surgeon, publisher of the St. Louis American newspaper, patron of the arts, distinguished community leader and former member of Webster University’s Board of Trustees. The scholarship will be formally presented on Sept. 12 at the 27th annual St. Louis American Foundation’s Salute to Excellence in Education Scholarship and Awards Gala.

“Joshua Tyler brings to Webster University leadership that inspires others, eagerness for what is next, intellectual curiosity coupled with imagination, and strength built from adversity,” said Webster University President Beth Stroble. “His enthusiasm for learning and his commitment to doing the right thing make him a worthy recipient of the Dr. Donald M. Suggs Scholarship.”

Tyler is a St. Louis resident who attended Whitfield School and will enter Webster as a film production major.
