Volleyball Gorloks to Throw Out First Pitch at Cards Game

The Gorlok volleyball team hopes to celebrate a Cardinal win following their first pitch at the Aug. 15 game.

Members of the Webster University volleyball team will throw out the ceremonial ‘first pitch’ at the St. Louis Cardinals Aug. 15 game vs. the San Diego Padres. The Gorloks received this honor as a part of the team’s efforts in joining with the Cards for a fundraiser to benefit the program, selling tickets for less than half price.

Representing the Webster volleyball team will be head coach Merry Graf, Kristen McDowell, Megan Morrison, Allie O’Toole and Jenny HowardOther team members will also be on the field as the Cardinals take batting practice.

Last season the Webster University volleyball team finished 26-9, winning the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament and advancing to the NCAA Division III Championships. The team was also recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association with a Team Academic Award for having a team grade point average of 3.48.

The Gorloks will begin practice for the 2014 season on Aug. 16, in hopes of winning a fourth straight SLIAC championship.
