Lorraine LiCavoli, Conservatory of Theatre Arts, Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts

As department associate for the Conservatory of Theatre Arts, Lorraine LiCavoli is “widely acknowledged as the glue that holds the department together.” The Conservatory makes her workload unique in several ways: Organizing a growing number of current students and guest artists, as well as relationships with partner arts organizations; promoting and implementing a full season of plays; and arranging travel and auditions for each year’s extensive nationwide recruiting effort.

As one nominator says, “Lorraine works very hard and demands a lot of herself – including self-improvement. She exemplifies the hard work and professionalism that is the hallmark of our training.”

Said another, “Lorraine consistently ensures that our theatre students get their work done, attend their classes, fulfill work study requirements, and participate in theatre productions. She is a vital part of their experience in the Conservatory. I can think of no one better suited to represent the values of Webster University. She models for us all the kind of hard work and collaboration that moves the institution forward.”

Napoleon was recognized for her work in the School of Communications.

Susan Napoleon, School of Communications

As coordinator for the School of Communications, Susan Napoleon is well known on campus for her no-nonsense approach to effective work and quality service. She serves as executive assistant to the dean, coordinator for the dean’s office, liaison with other offices and staff, senior leader among the staff of the School, event planner, advisor-at-large, and go-to person for just about anything that comes up.

Her job description requires her to work with tremendous amounts of autonomy, expertise, discretion and flexibility. She handles events and visitors for the dean’s office, advisory board and department chairs, manages the School’s scholarship application and award process, and coordinates Communications admissions events with faculty participation.

This year she also staffed the associate dean search and managed participation in the conceptual design process for remodeling Sverdrup. As one nominator said, “Susan has been everything this organization needs, at a time when our needs were quite acute. When and where the School’s need was greatest, is exactly where Susan was strongest, most reliable, dedicated and effective.”
