Seeking Host Families for Global Interns this Summer

| April 16, 2014

The Walker EDGE Office (formerly the Global Internship Experience/GIE) is still in need of host families for its German global interns who will be joining us this summer from Friday, June 27 – Saturday, Aug. 23!

Hosting a global intern is a wonderful way to learn about a new culture, its values and traditions, language, food and more as well as rediscover Saint Louis through sharing your own culture. Host families provide a safe and private place to sleep, as well as breakfast, dinner and food for a sack lunch. A $500 stipend is available to assist with costs, and hostings less than eight weeks receive a stipend on a sliding scale.

Matches with interns are made by submitting an online application and preference form. If a match is made, a background check will be required on host family members above the age of 18 who have not hosted with the Walker EDGE or GIE programs within the past two years (summer 2012 or 2013).

Interested in participating as a host family? Please complete our online application and preference form and we will follow up with you to discuss details.

If you have any questions, please contact Walker EDGE assistant director Lori Sharp at sherrils@webster.edu or 314-246-7632. For more information, visit: http://www.webster.edu/walker-edge-global-internships/host-families/index.html.
