Get Money Smart April 12: Free fair, one-hour seminars on managing money, credit, home-buying and more

Webster University has joined Money Smart Week (MSW) partners to offer free personal finance management classes at its first-ever “Let’s Get Money Smart Financial Empowerment Workshop & Resource Fair.” The fair will be held on the University’s home campus in Webster Groves from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Saturday, April 12, 2014, in the East Academic Building.

Sponsored by the United Way of Greater St. Louis and Greater St. Louis Financial Education Collaborative, Money Smart Week takes place throughout the region April 5-12, 2014. More than 100 other partner organizations dedicated to improving financial literacy in the St. Louis metro region participate in the week.

At Webster, the “Let’s Get Money Smart Financial Empowerment Workshop & Resource Fair” will feature a host of Money Smart modules covering topics such as:

  • Money Matters
  • To Your Credit
  • Borrowing Basics
  • Pay Yourself First
  • Your Own Home
  • Small Business Banking Services
  • Credit Reporting
  • Financial Management and Record Keeping

Each class lasts for one hour. The fair also is offering a Financial Health Check that includes Free Credit Reports and a free credit analysis. There also will be a resource fair on campus.

“We are proud to join our community partners in providing this invaluable financial empowerment opportunity, and are grateful to Webster University for hosting it for the community at large,” said David Noble, chairman of the board of directors for the Metropolitan Saint Louis CRA Association (MSLCRA). The MSLCRA is coordinating the fair at the university.
