Positioning to Thrive: Strategic Planning Initiative Launched, Steering Committee Named

| October 28, 2013

A message from the President and Provost:

We are pleased to announce the official launch of Webster University’s Strategic Planning Initiative, which will guide the creation of Webster University’s new strategic plan.

As previously mentioned at Fall Convocation and the recent Academic Assembly, Webster University is conducting this initiative to affirm our heritage of providing quality education where we see need, while identifying and advancing strategic directions to ensure Webster thrives into the future.

Webster has engaged Credo (www.credohighered.com), a North Carolina-based higher education consulting firm, to provide assistance and expertise in developing and implementing a plan which sets out ambitious but achievable goals and, importantly, provides metrics and methods for tracking progress and marking milestones toward those goals.

Nancy Hellerud, associate provost, will chair the Strategic Planning committee. We expect the planning process will be inclusive of our entire University community, throughout the worldwide network of campuses. Soon we will begin a series of information gathering meetings and focus groups with Credo, including on-site visits in St. Louis and South Carolina, as well as calls with international directors.

Thank you for joining us in the work that has led us to this point, preparing Webster for “What’s Next.” Much of the strategic planning will be informed by the foundational work of recent initiatives that engaged the University community, including but not limited to the Global Citizenship Program, the Working Groups, ACE Internationalization Laboratory, Master Planning, Academic Program Review and Prioritization, and the Global Leadership Academy.

We expect a new strategic plan completed in Fall 2014.
