Children’s Book Drive Next Week

| September 26, 2013

If you have gently used children’s books in need of a new home, please consider donating them to the Webster Works Worldwide Children’s Book Drive. Since it’s inception in 2001, the book drive has collected over 12,000 books and donated them to schools and service agencies in low-income areas.

A total of 1,028 books were collected last year and donated to the following schools and service agencies:

  • Almost Home Shelter for Teen Mom’s
  • Bayless High School
  • Cornerstone Child Care Center
  • Gateway Elementary School
  • Mallinckrodt Elementary School
  • Mathews-Dickey Boys and Girls Club
  • River Roads Lutheran School
  • Stix Early Childhood Center
  • Wilkinson Early Childhood Center
  • Woerner Elementary School
  • Women’s Safe House

The Book Drive is coordinated by the Student Literacy Corps. Through this drive, Webster students, faculty, and staff have donated new and gently used books to schools and family literacy programs serving children from infants through adolescents.  By donating these books to schools and agencies in low-income areas, we have shared our of love of reading with children who have limited access to quality children’s books.
