Register now for the 2nd annual Webster University Sustainability Conference, April 12-13.

The 2013 Webster University Sustainability Conference is less than four weeks away, and an engaging lineup of speakers, panelists and presentations has been lined up for the two-day event, April 12-13 on Webster’s home campus in Webster Groves.

Attendance is free for Webster University students, faculty and staff ($5 for other students, $20 for general attendees), but please register online here so that conference planners know of your attendance and food and conference materials (e.g. name badges) can be planned accordingly.

Academics, Students, Community Partners, Local Sponsors

Approximately 35 presentations and panels have been accepted and are scheduled along the four conference sub-themes:

  • Water: The Ultimate Resource
  • Collaboration: University, Business & Community
  • St. Louis: Our Common Past
  • Education: Teaching for Global Sustainability

Further, the keynote address will be delivered by Dr. David W. Orr, the Paul Sears Distinguished Professor of Environmental Studies and Politics and senior adviser to the president, Oberlin College.

Other featured speakers throughout the conference include:

  • Dr. Monty Hempel, director of the Center for Environmental Studies at University of Redlands and founding president of Blue Planet United
  • Kathleen Logan Smith, executive director at the Missouri Coalition for the Environment
  • Lt. Gen. Kathleen M. Gainey, deputy commander, U.S. Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base
  • Col. Christopher G. Hall, commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers St. Louis District.
