An international group of visitors gathered in Raum D/quartier 21 at Museumsquartier for Webster Vienna’s second animation symposium.

Holger Lang, junior research faculty member in the Department of Media/Communications at Webster University Vienna, held the Vienna campus’ second animation symposium in late February in Raum D/quartier 21 at Museumsquartier. The title of the event was “Under-the-Radar.”

An international group of animation experts presented fascinating examples of animation films. They were available for discussion, and their program attracted a good crowd of interested people. Suzanne Buchan from the U.K. was one of the main presenters with her topic “Pervasive Animation.”

Among the visitors from abroad was Van McElwee, Webster professor based at the home campus in St. Louis.

Many visitors from other universities attended, including students, lecturers and researchers as well as two School of Communications faculty members from Webster’s home campus in Webster Groves: Van McElwee and Chris Sagovac.

“From all accounts, the visitors greatly enjoyed their Viennese experience,” said M. Regina Kecht, academic director, Webster University Vienna.

The event was jointly presented by Webster University, ASIFA-Austria, and the production company dma-pro.com. It also had the support of the Institut für Theater-, Film- und Medienwissenschaft at the University of Vienna.

Kecht beamed at the result: “Great teamwork, great content, and great audience responses!”
