CMS Presents Two Free Concerts March 9

St. Louis Symphony Musicians perform March 9.

The Community Music School presents two free concerts in the CMS concert hall Saturday, March 9: St. Louis Symphony Musicians at 2 p.m., and the CMS Spring Faculty Recital at 4:30 p.m.

St. Louis Symphony Musicians, 2 p.m.

The St. Louis Symphony Community Partnerships Program presents the St. Louis Symphony Musicians in a concert featuring solo performances by: Daniel Lee, principal cellist; William James, principal percussionist; and Erin Schreiber, assistant concertmaster.

Cellist Daniel Lee performs the tour de force piece Kodály’s Sonata for Solo Cello, Op. 8. Percussionist William James pays tribute to Frank Zappa through Peter Eötvös’ Psalm 15, “In Memoriam Frank Zappa,” and violin virtuoso Erin Schreiber performs Sequenza VII for Solo Violin by Berio.

The St. Louis Symphony Musicians embark on a California Tour in mid-March and the program performed is the same to be performed at the Crocker Art Museum at the University of California-Davis on that tour.


Community Music School Spring Faculty Recital, 4:30 p.m.

The  Community Music School is pleased to present faculty members in recital, showcasing their abilities as outstanding performers as well as respected educators. Faculty performing include: Nina Ferrigno, piano; Antonina Gerassimova, piano; Jill Hartzog, soprano; Vera Parkin, piano; Patrick Rafferty, guitar; Manuel Ramos, violin; Angie Smart, violin; Robert Souza, trumpet; and Kourtney Strade, mezzo-soprano. Works by Brahms, Elgar, Ewazen and others will be performed in solos and ensembles.
