Two Webster students received Gilman scholarships for 2013.

The Office of Study Abroad is proud to announce that two study abroad students, Lauren Blankenship and Jeanette Guellil, were selected as Gilman Scholarship recipients for Spring 2013.

Lauren is an Advertising and Marketing Communications major and will be studying in Thailand this spring. Jeanette is an International Studies major and is studying in Geneva for the fall 2012 and spring 2013 semesters.

During the Spring 2013 application cycle, the Gilman Scholarship Program reviewed more than 2,600 applications for over 1,000 awards. Recipients were announced in November, and a comprehensive list of recipients can be found by visiting the program’s site.

On-Going Scholarship Opportunity for Webster Students

The Gilman Scholarship Program offers awards for undergraduate study abroad and was established by the International Academic Opportunity Act of 2000. This scholarship provides awards for U.S. undergraduate students who are receiving Federal Pell Grant funding at a two-year or four-year college or university to participate in study abroad programs worldwide.

Webster students who receive the Pell Grant are encouraged to apply for this scholarship when studying abroad. In the past, Webster has had students each semester who have been successful scholarship recipients.
