Campus Construction Update:

The “Compass Rose Plaza” — the granite stone area under construction between the Priest and Pearson houses on the Webster Groves campus — has been covered by a tent to protect the stonework from the elements before the project is completed. Estimated completion of the project is now Spring 2013.

As the project was coming to fruition this fall, both the University and Alberici Construction were unsatisfied with the results of the application of a sealer to the granite by a sub-contractor. Attempts were made unsuccessfully to remove the sealer.

A warning sign for pedestrians was posted as standard operating procedure by the sub-contractor as they attempted to remove the sealer. The sign is not meant to imply any danger other than the standard caution expected and necessary in any construction zone.

The project is being redone for spring, courtesy of Alberici. The tent that covered the area is expected to be used to minimize weather exposure and facilitate stone removal when the project resumes.
