Schuermann

Ginnie Schuermann, database manager, Information Technology, and Dorci Palmer, office manager, Ocala Academic Center, Fla., share the Employee Spotlight honors for October 2012.

Ginnie Schuermann‘s colleagues regard her as a role model and mentor and someone who gets the big picture without losing the smallest details.

With 31 years of programming experience for Webster, Ginnie has become a great resource for her department, encouraging familiarity with data and systems, but also good business practices.

“She is a super great person to work with,” says her nominator.

Ginnie says she has enjoyed watching Webster grow from a college to a university.

She appreciates being nominated for the Employee Spotlight Award. “It’s nice to know someone you’ve helped will take the time to nominate you for this award.”

Ginnie chose a day off with pay as her prize.

Palmer

Dorci Palmer‘s nominator says Dorci’s work is detail oriented, creative and conscientious. “She strives for perfection in all her areas of responsibility.”

Dorci is described as “an independent worker who is also a great team player.” Colleagues rely on her to bring about the best possible results with a commitment to quality assurance while also handling pressure and tension with grace.

“She is a wonderful part of student services and an asset to Webster University.”

Dorci, who has been with Webster two years, “loves watching students as they enter the program, nervous and excited, and then seeing their confidence and pride when they have completed it.”

“Seeing the joy on their faces as they achieve success makes me happy to have been a part of their journey,” she says.

The students return Dorci’s regard, overwhelming her with congratulations, by email and in person, after her recent promotion was announced. “It’s so rewarding to know they celebrate my successes just asĀ  much as I celebrate theirs.”

Dorci says she is proud to work for a university that allows her to take a hands-on, personal approach to the education of adults in her community.

Dorci chose a day off with pay as her prize.
