RFP for Global WAN Released

| July 10, 2012

On July 6, Webster University took another significant step toward achieving its vision as a worldwide institution by releasing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the creation of a Global Wide Area Network (WAN).

A Global WAN means one telecom network will connect all Webster campuses across the globe, creating consistent service for all constituents and managing bandwidth across the network.

The desired platform will allow current and future services such as video conferencing to be enabled across the network when the University is ready to deploy them.

Responses to the RFP are due Aug. 6. The evaluation team is made up of members from the overall Global WAN Steering Committee, which includes representatives from IT, Procurement, international campuses, Academic Affairs and faculty, along with a consulting team that will help forge a final decision.

Evaluations and a recommendation are expected in September, with the goal of starting phased deployment by early 2013.
