Gorlok Advances to Final Four in Mascot Madness

| March 29, 2012

I still need your vote!

The Webster University Gorlok didn’t let a little lightning bother it as it zapped Bolt of the Winston-Salem (NC) baseball team, grabbing 60 percent of the vote in a second round win in the Mascot Madness.

The Gorlok may face its toughest test yet in the semi-finals, facing the winner of the Johnny (Ft. Wayne [IN] Tincaps) vs. Blowie (Columbia [SC] Blowfish) match-up.

Blowie, who for some reason wears extremely large shoes despite being a fish, is the heavy favorite in that contest. The Gorlok’s semi-final vote takes place Saturday, March 31. Despite it being an off-day for most of the Gorlok faithful, the whiskered one is counting on its loyal fan base to turn out the vote.

The Mascot Madness is being held by 1290 AM, “The Source,” a sports oriented radio station in Tucson, Ariz. This year’s Sweet Sixteen field included 14 minor league baseball mascots, along with the Gorlok and Wilbur T. Wildcat from the University of Arizona.

Wilbur T. went down in first round action, leaving the Gorlok as the only non-baseball mascot. As the reigning champ, after dismantling the 2011 competition, the Gorlok was invited back to defend its title in 2012.

Again, voting for round 3 will take place March 31. Stay tuned to websterathletics.com for the voting link.
