Two health care professionals who are also alumni of the Webster University Ozarks Regional campus in Springfield, Mo., shared their perspectives Oct. 12 in the forum, “The New Look of Health Care.”

The Ozarks campus sponsored the forum and invited alumni, students, faculty and the community to attend.

Jon Swope ’01, president and CEO of St. John’s Health System in Springfield, and Kevin Gipson ’02, director of the Springfield-Greene County Health Department, discussed changes in health care, including the new Affordable Care Act and how it is impacting families and individuals in Missouri.

The shifting health care landscape is already affecting citizens in the Ozarks region and more changes are coming. Swope and Gipson explained some of the new provisions of the law. Swope has a background in non-profit health care delivery, and Gipson brought his public health perspective.

The forum will be available for viewing soon on Webster University’s YouTube channel.
