Webster University Faculty, Alumna in ‘Poetry in Place’

| September 29, 2011

This weekend and next (Saturdays, Oct. 1 and 8, 1 – 3 p.m.), Laumeier Sculpture Park will feature events that combine sculpture. poetry, performance and the outdoors in a series of site-specific presentations called “Poetry in Place: The Platforms.”

Naturally, Webster University artists are a big part of the show.

The driver behind “Poetry and Place” is Laumeier curator Dana Turkovic, a Webster alumna who has also curated a number of shows at the Hunt Gallery on Webster University’s campus. Three of the artists who have created “platforms” for the poets are also teachers in Webster’s Art Department: B. J. Vogt, who now runs the Hunt Gallery’s shows; Daniel McGrath, who also has a show opening at the Sheldon Galleries Friday; and Douglis Beck.

The lineup of poets for the event includes Religious Studies professor Chris Parr.
