Fall 1 Course Change – Major U.S. Writers

| May 26, 2011

A second section of Major U.S. Writers I (ENGL 2050.02) has opened for the Fall. It’s M-W-F from 11-11:50 a.m. with Karla Armbruster.

This course provides a foundation in early U.S. literature for English majors and interested non-majors. It surveys significant works by major authors within the literary tradition of the United States up to 1865, with some emphasis on competing perspectives that shape U.S. literature, including race, gender, and region. We will begin with written versions of Native American oral stories and end with Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson.
