The Webster University women’s softball team will take on #3 seed Blackburn College (Ill.) in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament on Thursday, May 5, at Forestwood Park in Ferguson.

The Gorloks will play at 5 p.m. in the double-elimination tournament, and will play a second round contest in either the winners or losers bracket, at 7 p.m.

Webster has qualified all 10 years the tournament has been played since the Gorlok softball program was started in 1997.

Webster has the highest winning percentage of any SLIAC team in the period, with a 19-9 (.679) won-loss record.  The Gorloks finished 13-3 in the SLIAC in 2011, good for second place behind the regular-season champs, Fontbonne University.

The Gorloks swept Blackburn, 7-5 and 11-0, on April 20 at Blackburn Park.  Webster split with Fontbonne, winning 5-2 and losing 10-5.  The Griffins nipped the Gorloks in the tournament championship final in 2010, 7-3.  The winner of the tournament advances to the NCAA III Championships.
