Schuster, Wilson fund scholarships to send 5 students to United Nations

| December 17, 2010

From Danielle MacCartney, assistant professor, Sociology:

With generous donations from Provost Julian Schuster and Dean David Carl Wilson, the Women’s Studies committee awarded scholarships of $1000 to five students to attend the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York City.

Please congratulate the following students:

Ashley Newport
• Jeni Taylor
• Alexandria Burns
• Cynthia Jo Rossi
• Lydia Schulte

If, for any reason, the candidates are unable to attend the conference, the alternates are:

• Anna Pestine
• Chrissy Mueller
• Jessica Freeman

Students who were interested in attending the UN conference were required to submit an essay explaining how they would benefit from attending the conference and a letter of recommendation. The Women’s Studies committee and an alumna of Webster University who attended last year’s conference, Theresa Eultgen, reviewed these materials and selected the award recipients.

If you work with any of the students, or have them in your classes, please congratulate them!
