June 2010 Employee Spotlight Award

| September 15, 2010

Tammy LaGrand, admissions associate, Admissions, and Najy (Nick) Daher, academic advisor, South Orlando Campus, Fla., share the Employee Spotlight honors for June 2010.

Nick Daher

Nick Daher‘s nominator says performing his responsibilities as academic advisor and corporate relations coordinator with the South Orlando in an exemplary manner is only a small part of Daher’s contribution to the University.

The nominator says Daher recently developed a cohort group at a major theme park, which is expected to bring in a substantial amount of tuition in the first year alone. He is also responsible for establishing and maintaining several other ongoing cohort sites.

“Nick enthusiastically participates in all facets of extended campus administration,” says his nominator. “He continually seeks new challenges and is always willing to help in any capacity.”

With Webster as an academic advisor for seven years, Daher says, “I’m very fortunate to be given the support and resources to achieve my assigned goals within a challenging, yet workable and realistic time frame.

“As an academic advisor, I assist working professionals with selecting their majors and also help them focus on their passion and what motivates them, taking it a step beyond maximizing their income based on market conditions.”

Daher says his best on-the-job experience is receiving calls from students and alumni thanking him for helping them put their lives on the right track and supporting their personal and professional succession planning.

Daher chose a day off with pay as his prize.

Tammy LaGrand is consistently helpful and knowledgeable, a person who often goes out of her way to assist students and co-workers, says her nominator. Colleagues know they can count on LaGrand to provide needed information concerning applications and CARS data in a timely and efficient manner.

LaGrand’s friendly manner is also appreciated. “Tammy is always helpful and you can “hear” her smile,” her nominator says.

With the University seven years, LaGrand began working in the Registrar’s Office and then moved to Graduate and Undergraduate Evening Admissions, now part of the combined Admissions Office.

LaGrand says she loves her job and the people who surround her at Webster. She enjoys assisting co-workers and students when they need her, and very much appreciates the Employee Spotlight recognition for her contributions to the University.

LaGrand chose the $100 savings bond as her prize.
