rishe-nflIn an interview on NFL AM, Patrick Rishe, Ph.D., professor of economics at the George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology, explains why the Dallas Cowboys top Forbes’ list of most valuable franchises in the NFL.  Despite not having won a meaningful playoff game in more than a decade, the team is estimated to be worth $3.2 billion.

During the interview, Professor Rishe attributes the team’s top ranking to the fact that it has a newer stadium, which helps it generate sales from luxury boxes.  He also says that the team’s sponsorship deals with other companies, including Carnival, plays a role.  Finally, he acknowledges the importance of the team’s historical success and the branding effect of past championships.

Watch the interview for more insights from Professor Rishe.
