A recent two-day visit from the Council on Accreditation for Nurse Anesthesia ended with an extremely positive report from the accreditation team to an audience of about 100 constituents in the Winifred Moore Auditorium.
Among the special strengths of the program, they cited the impressive pedagogical contributions of the university’s Department of Biological Sciences, chaired by Stephanie Schroeder, and they praised the strong leadership of Nurse Anesthesia program director Jill Stulce.
Stulce said the team’s lead reviewer, Dr. Kathy O’Donnell, who has been reviewing nurse anesthesia program for 30 years, mentioned more than once how amazed she was by the physician and CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) support of the Webster program. At the end of the site visit, Stulce said O’Donnell told the program’s faculty, “You have a program you can be proud of.”
The reviewers will provide a formal report to the Council on Accreditation, which will meet in May 2011. “I have every confidence based on our glowing review that we will be offered the maximum accreditation of 10 years,” Stulce said.
