Career Planning & Development visit to BDO

Students visited BDO USA, one of the nation’s leading accounting, tax and consulting firms, after its expansion into St. Louis.

This month Webster University students received a firsthand look at a growing accounting firm in the midst of a merger.

On Thursday, June 25, several students attended the BDO (formally Stone Carlie) Open House and Recruiting Event, which featured Q & A with partners, recruiters and associates, tour of the newly renovated offices, lunch at J Buck’s and a scavenger hunt in Clayton.

Earlier that month, Stone Carlie officially joined BDO USA, LLP, one of the nation’s leading accounting, tax and consulting firms, bringing the firm into the St. Louis market and growing revenues to over $1 billion. Webster students got a first look at the newly renovated space in Clayton, Missouri, and learned about the recruiting outlook from the campus recruiter who flew in from their location in Chicago.

“BDO, like many organizations, are beginning early recruiting for spring internships,” said Trezette Dixon, assistant director, Employer Relations, in Webster’s Career Planning & Development Center.  “This valuable summer recruiting opportunity allowed our students to network with professionals and fellow students, gain information about the organization, and be identified beyond their resume when recruiting continues this fall.”

In all, students attended representing various colleges and universities in the area including Webster University and Truman State University.  Students from Webster University included Tiffany Novak, Dmitriy Gritsenko and Vicky Niolet. They also heard from Webster alumna Meghan Nehls ’12, a tax associate at BDO who was one of the speakers during the information session.
