Webster University Communities Top ‘Best Cities for Jobs’ List

| June 1, 2015

Employment database company Glassdoor named “The 25 Best Cities for Jobs” in the United States earlier this month, and Webster University has campus locations in or near about one-third of the listed communities.

The cities were selected according to their median pay for employees, median home values, job satisfaction ratings, current number of job openings and overall population.

The communities listed by Glassdoor that are home to Webster University metro and/or military campus locations are Kansas City, Oklahoma City, Salt Lake City, Louisville, San Antonio, Washington D.C., St. Louis and Memphis.

Kansas City was listed second on the list, the highest ranking for a city with a Webster University location. Webster University has been operating a campus location in Kansas City since 1972 and recently moved to a more modern building to meet the growing demands for education in that community.

According to Glassdoor, the cities on its list were identified through a series of measurements:

  • The number of job openings in a community as compared to the population of the city, as measured by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget
  • The cost of living, using median incomes and median home values as reported by several tracking organizations
  • Job satisfaction ratings, based on a survey of employees at 1,000 different companies conducted in the past year

Using those measurements, Glassdoor ranked each category on a scale of 1-5 and then gave an overall average score on the same scale. Raleigh, North Carolina received the best score of 4.1.

The full list can be found online here.
