The 2015 baseball season included a No. 8 final ranking and Webster University’s third NCAA D-III “Collete World Series” appearance in the last four years.

The Webster University baseball team wound up ranked No. 8 nationally in the ABCA/Collegiate Baseball final NCAA III poll for 2015. The Gorloks (34-15) jumped from No. 24 in the final regular season poll to No. 8 on the backs of their Central Regional Championship and their third World Series appearance in four years.

Webster won the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) regular season title with an 18-4 record. After being upset in the SLIAC tournament, Webster received an at-large bid to the Central Regional from the NCAA III selection committee based on its record and strength of schedule.  The Gorloks didn’t disappoint at Waterloo, Iowa, where they swept four straight for the program’s third regional championship in four years.

The Gorloks faced the No. 1 ranked, and eventual 2015 champion, SUNY-Cortland (45-4) in the first round of the NCAA Championships “World Series,” losing to the Red Dragons. Webster was eliminated from the double-elimination tournament by Ramapo College (New Jersey), ranked No. 12 in the final poll, in the second round.

During the 2015 season, Webster had victories over Wisconsin-Stevens Point (No. 10), Rhodes College (No. 11), and Carthage College (Ilinois), Marietta College (Ohio),  Concordia-Chicago, and Washington University, all also receiving votes in the final poll.

Overall in 2014-15, the Webster University Athletics program won its 11th consecutive SLIAC All-Sports title for excelling across all sports. Keep up with all Gorloks news at the Webster University Athletics site.
