Latest Windows 7 Migration Updates (May 4-8)

Webster University’s Information Technology continues to upgrade all Windows computers to the Windows 7 operating system and installing a consistent and reliable application package. In addition to delivering a consistent and reliable desktop image to all U.S. domestic sites, these initiatives will stabilize the work station environment by minimizing potential security threats and exposures.

The latest migration update follows (see previous migration updates here):

Last week (May 4-May 8), Information Technology migrated 226 PCs to the Windows 7 64-bit operating system. In total, 826 of the 2,500 PCs targeted for migration have been completed.

Main Campus Departments
  • Community Music School  – Complete
  • Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts – Complete
  • Academic Affairs – Complete
  • Business School, EAB – Complete
  • Office of Study Abroad – Complete
  • Athletics – Complete
  • Student Affairs Office & Student Engagement – Complete
  • University Center – Complete
Extended Sites
  • Irvine, California – Complete
  • Los Angeles AFB, California (Los Angeles, California) – Complete
  • Orlando (South), Florida – Complete
  • St Petersburg, Florida – Complete

Migration Schedule, Main Campus:

  • The migration schedules have been adjusted to accommodate faculty’s schedule post commencement.
  • The project is scheduled for completion on the main campus on June 5.
  • Migrations that were rescheduled will continue through June 12.

Post-scheduled migration work is anticipated to ensure that unique applications identified during the migration process are adequately tested.

Extended Site Migration Schedule:

Migrations for our extended sites are on target to be completed by June 12.

Known Migration Issues:

  • Printer issues: Work continues to identify the root cause of some users experiencing printer difficulties after Windows 7 migration.
  • To effectively address the printer problems, work-arounds are in place which are becoming increasingly effective with each area migrated.
