International Languages and Cultures

Teaching assistant Aori Inoue-Rodriguez is originally from Kyoto, Japan, but grew up in Kobe, Japan.

“Since we are not meeting during summer, JSA will have the festival now,” said Aori Inoue-Rodriguez, Japanese teaching assistant for International Languages & Cultures. “The summer festival in Japan celebrates having spent the first half of the year safely, and it is an event to make wishes so that disasters will similarly not be met in the future.”

In addition to the games and karaoke booth, JSA will serve popular Japanese street foods such as takoyaki (octopus ball), yakisoba (fried noodles), Choco banana, shaved ice, Japanese style fruit punch. American-style hot hot dogs, french fries and more will also be served.

“This will be my last semester teaching at Webster University and three Japanese students are going back to Japan,” said Inoue-Rodriguez. “It will be [a great time for students to] say good bye to us.”
