Webster Dance Presents Spring Creations Concert May 1

| April 24, 2015

Webster University’s Department of Dance will present its Spring Creations concert, “An Informal Showing and Sharing of Student Choreographed Works,” on Friday, May 1, at 8 p.m. The Creations Concert is entirely produced, choreographed, and performed by Department of Dance students.

The performance will be held in the large studio of Jean and Wells Hobler Center for Dance on the fourth floor of the Loretto-Hilton Center. Admission to the concert is free, while donations are warmly welcomed to support the Dance Club.

“The Spring Creations concert will be the closing performance of the season for the Department of Dance and an extremely special one,” said dance student and student director Jacob Henss. “Not only will there be choreography displayed from the students, but alumna Vita Sullivan has also been chosen to present a piece as well.”

The 2015 Spring Creations Concert marks the second concert Henss has directed this academic year.

Concert Showcases Student Talent & Artistic Growth

Students began choreographing and rehearsing mid-March for the Spring Creations Concert. Pieces presented will include a variety of styles and techniques, from modern and ballet to contemporary and dance theatre.

“One reason I have thoroughly enjoyed working on the Creations concerts is witnessing the growth artistically and technically from the students,” Henss says. “In just a semester’s time, it is amazing how much the department can blossom. With thanks to Department of Dance chair James Robey and artistic director Beckah Reed, the semester doesn’t end with the Webster University Dance Ensemble Spring Concert, and is just as energetic as the beginning!”
