| April 23, 2015

Since 2004, the Community Music School Young Composers Competition has recognized and encouraged the efforts of those between the ages of 12 and 21 who are involved in the creative process of composing music. This program, unique to the St. Louis region, is an open competition which has received submissions from the St. Louis area and throughout the nation.

Student composers ages 12-21 are invited to submit music compositions to the Young Composers Competition of the Community Music School of Webster University, sponsored by Arden and Harry Fisher. The deadline for submission is Friday, Oct. 23.

This competition will feature student composers in two separate age categories. Level I for students ages 12-16 and Level II for students ages 17-21. Compositions may use a combination of 2–7 musicians and must be between 3–15 minutes in length.

The competition will feature three awards:

  • Professional performance and recording of composition at the Emerging Composers Concert Spring 2016.
  • Written critique and conference with the guest composer.
  • Recognition at the Emerging Composers Concert.
