Four Student Athletes Named SLIAC Players of the Week

Four Webster student athletes were named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week April 13-19.

Four Webster University student athletes were named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Players of the Week, for April 13-19. C.J. Lee, Kaylyn DeCock, Haile Wilson and Meghan Illig all were honored by the SLIAC for performances in their respective sports.

About the Players: Baseball, Softball, Track and Field

C.J. Lee was named SLIAC baseball pitcher of the week. Lee, a sophomore pitcher, was outstanding in his only start of the week. Lee played a complete game, seven inning shutout in a 6-0 win at Principia College. He allowed just two hits while striking out 12 and walking one. Lee is 3-1 on the season with a 3.05 earned-run average.

Kaylyn DeCock received the SLIAC softball hitter of the week. DeCock, a junior catcher, helped her team to three wins on the week. She batted .667 in four games with one home run and seven runs batted in. She went 3-6 in a double header split against Greenville. She had four hits in game one of a double header sweep against Eureka, driving in two runs and hitting a home run. On the week, DeCock was 8-for-12 at the plate with four runs scored and a 1.000 slugging percentage.

Haile Wilson was honored with the SLIAC Men’s track and field player of the week. Wilson, a freshman runner, had a pair of top three showings at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet. He grabbed first place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.00 seconds. Wilson then finished in third in the 200 meter dash, with a time of 22.17 seconds. This marks Wilson’s second Player of the Week honor this season.

Meghan Illig was awarded the SLIAC Women’s track and field player of the week. Illig, a freshman runner, competed in two events at the Rose-Hulman Twilight Meet this past weekend, finishing in the top four in both events. Illig placed second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.48, setting a new school record and just 0.16 seconds behind the winner. She took fourth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.83. Illig had the top finishes in both events for the SLIAC.
