Dean’s Award for Service Recipients Named for Spring 1 2015

Emily Fry, Jocelyn Cato, Michael Grosch and Dawn Emmons received the Dean’s Award for Service for Spring 1 at a luncheon held March 27.

Four students have been selected to receive the Dean’s Award for Service for Spring 1. The award recipients are: Emily Fry, Jocelyn Cato, Michael Grosch and Dawn Emmons. In order to be considered for the Dean’s Award one must be nominated by a member of the Webster University community for performing a valuable service. The term “service” encompasses a broad range of contributions made by students, both on- and off-campus.

Nominations for the Dean’s Award for Service for Spring 2 are due April 3.

Emily Fry, a senior media communications major from Columbia, Missouri, was nominated by Debra Carpenter, professor in communications and journalism. She was nominated for her leadership as the treasurer for both the Public Relations Student Society of America and Amnesty International, as well as for volunteering at Epworth Children’s Home.

Jocelyn Cato, a senior international studies major from Troy, Missouri, was nominated by Maggie Dankert, representative in international languages and cultures. She was nominated for her leadership with the International Student Association, serving as president and as an international orientation leader.

Michael Grosch, a senior speech communications and international relations double major from St. Louis, was nominated by Jennifer Stewart, director of the office of student engagement. He was nominated for his leadership as former SGA president, spearheading the proposal for the Global Student Leadership Summit, and serving as an SGA Ambassador during his year of study abroad.

Dawn Emmons, a senior education major from Sullivan, Missouri, was nominated by Anna Dickherber, community director for West and East Halls. She was nominated for her four years of service with the Residential Housing Association (RHA), including leadership roles such as vice president.

Up to four students are recognized each term with the Dean’s Service Award. The awards were presented at a ceremony held on Friday, March 27.
