Multicultural Studies Committee Spring Workshop: ‘Ferguson’ and Teaching

| March 13, 2015

As part of its continuing workshop series on diversity and inclusion, the Multicultural Studies Committee (MULC) invites faculty and staff to a follow-up conversation about “Ferguson” and Teaching on Thursday, March 26, 3:30-5:30 p.m. in the Faculty Development Center in the Emerson Library. Appetizers and beverages will be served.

Workshop Goals
  1. Provide opportunity for faculty and staff to collectively reflect on how the events surrounding Ferguson may have affected our students, our classroom dynamics, and our pedagogy.
  2. Share resources and assess teaching strategies.

The Committee requests faculty/staff bring relevant resources, lesson plans, assignments/activities, and assessments of their efforts in the classroom. In addition, members of the committee urge faculty/staff to bring at least one other person to the workshop.

MULC workshops are offered in a safe and congenial space designed for sharing experiences and reflections. Workshops feature structured conversations to facilitate mutual exploration of often-difficult and sensitive topics.
