The Webster University Chamber Orchestra will be in concert with classical guitarist Olivier Chassain March 1.

World famous classical guitarist Olivier Chassain will be in concert with the Webster University Chamber Orchestra March 1 at 7 p.m. on the Community Music School stage.

Chassain is professor of guitar at the famed Paris Conservatory. He has recorded for various labels, among which “Almost a song” (Metronome recordings) was awarded the “Choc” of Le Monde de la musique, and “Eventail” was given Classica magazine’s highest distinction.

Conducted by associate professor Paul Davis, director of Instrumental Studies for the Department of Music in Webster’s Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts, the orchestra will perform Schubert’s Symphony No. 5, and Joaquin Rodrigo’s popular “Fantasia para un gentilhombre” with Chassain.

Also on the program is the United States premier of “Des fluers en forme de diamants” (Flower-shaped Diamonds), by modern French composer Edith Lejet.

General admission is $3, and free to Webster University students, faculty and staff with ID.
