Under the theme of “Strange Connections” — emphasizing the often strange bedfellows who come together to advance sustainability — the conference covers a wide variety of sustainability topics, including:

  • regional corporate-public partnerships
  • the history of efficient lighting
  • research on bee diversity, urban gardens, sustainable agriculture in Costa Rica, and more
  • current issues and trends in climate disruption and the overall sustainability movement

The keynote by Col. Mark “Puck” Mykleby will address how security companies and the military see climate change as a bigger long-term security threat to the United States than terrorism or economic competition from China.

This year’s conference will also feature participation from local schools, with representatives from Webster Groves High School and The College School each presenting on sustainability in education.

Tesla Motors will have a premium electric vehicle on display during the conference.
