Members of Webster University’s Residential Housing Association (RHA) returned as winners from NoFrills 2015, the regional student leadership in housing conference at the University of Iowa, held Feb. 12-15. The annual conference is part of the Midwest Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (MACURH.)

Webster RHA’s four regional award bids were selected out of multiple submissions, and three earned top honors: Building Block RHA of the Year; National Communications Coordinator of the Year Award; and First Year Experience Award.

The Building Block RHA of the Year Award denotes a significant improvement in the development of programs and efforts for students, is considered to be a great honor and is only awarded once per year.

Katherine (Katy) Barry was recognized for her work as the national communications coordinator for RHA, and was chosen by her peers to receive the National Communications Coordinator of the Year Award. Scott Lunte, RHA’s national communications coordinator-in-training, was chosen to receive the First Year Experience Award, which is presented to one first-year student who displays significant involvement and enthusiasm for their housing and campus communities.

Up for National Consideration

Barry and Lunte’s honors will be sent to the national level for consideration to receive national awards.

These wins come just three months after the RHA delegation to the large MACURH conference were chosen out of all of the small schools in the region to receive the Small School Spirit Award. This marks Webster University’s first regional award since 2010, and first national award since 1999. The students next head to the national student leadership in housing conference (NACURH) in May 2015.
