School of Communications Presents ‘If You Build It – They Might Not Come’ by Julia Griffey

| February 2, 2015

Join the School of Communications in Sverdrup 101 at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 3, for a presentation by associate professor Julia Griffey.  “If You Build It-They Might Not Come,” will focus on a strategic use of web 2.0 tools for marketing and promotion.

About ‘If You Build It- They Might Not Come’

Griffey provides background on the presentation:

“As Coleman Fellows, we are tasked to connect our core academic disciplines to entrepreneurship. My response to this challenge was to look at interactive media tools and study best practices for marketing, promotion and generating sales. To do this I created my own case study that would allow me to test these techniques.

“The resulting research was published in ‘Artivate: A Journal of Entrepreneurship in the Arts,’ and will be shared at the upcoming Self-Employment in the Arts Conference; it will also be integrated into a new graduate course in the School of Communications. In this talk I will share my process and what I have learned.
