Basketball’s Ward Named SLIAC Player of the Week

Hunter Ward was named the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 24-30. Ward, a sophomore guard from St. Louis, helped the Gorloks to a pair of wins on the week, including a come from behind victory over Loras College.

Trailing 72-56, with just over three-minutes left in the game at Loras, Ward knocked down three consecutive three-pointers in a 31-second span to spark the Gorloks. He hit a fourth three-pointer with 17 seconds left in regulation to tie the game. Webster would eventually win, 92-88, in overtime. Ward finished the game with a ‘double double’, scoring 17 points and a pulling down a team-high 10 rebounds.

In an 82-60 win over MacMurray College, Ward recorded another ‘double-double’, scoring 16 points, grabbing a team-high 10 rebounds, and having a team-high four steals for the game.

On the week, Ward averaged 16.5 points, 10 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game. He was shooting 47.8 percent from the field including 56 percent from the three-pointer line, and now has recorded three ‘double doubles’ in his last four games.
