Women’s Soccer Team Earns Academic Award

| November 26, 2014

The Webster University women’s soccer team has earned the 2013-14 Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). This marks the 15th consecutive year Webster’s women’s soccer has been honored by the NSCAA.

The team had a cumulative 3.36 grade point average (GPA) for the past academic school year. Head coach Luigi Scire‘s program has received the award every year of the Webster women’s soccer team’s existence, 1999-present.

Webster was one of only two members of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to be awarded, the other being Principia College.

The NSCAA award spans all divisions of college soccer including: NCAA I, II, and III, the NAIA, and other affiliations. More than 1,900 teams are eligible. Teams had to have maintained a cumulative 3.0 grade point average, for all players on their rosters, for the full 2013-14 academic year in order to be eligible.

This is a remarkable achievement – for each student who successfully balances schoolwork with a very demanding sport AND for Webster’s team to be so consistent over so many years! Congratulations!
