The Webster University soccer teams swept the final St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for Fall 2014. All made significant contributions to their teams, winning their final two games to finish in first place and unbeaten in the SLIAC.

Men’s Soccer (Offensive)

Wells scored the only goals of the week for the Gorloks as they recorded a pair of conference wins and finished an undefeated SLIAC season at 8-0-1.  Wells scored the game winning goal on a penalty kick in a 1-0 win at Greenville College just 11-minutes into the contest. Later in the week he added the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Fontbonne University, scoring four minutes into the second-half on a free kick blast from just outside the Griffin box. Wells is tied for the team-lead in goals with seven, and leads the Gorloks with 24 points on the season. They were his eighth and ninth game-winning goals in his career at Webster. This was Wells’ first selection as Player of the Week.

Men’s Soccer (Defensive)

McReynolds recorded a pair of shutouts for the Gorloks in their regular season finales, winning each game 1-0. McReynolds and the Webster defense kept Greenville off the boards with McReynolds then making two saves in the shutout of Fontbonne four days later. With the shutouts McReynolds extended his current scoreless streak in the nets to 459 minutes. The shutouts were the fourth and fifth for McReynolds this season, as he improved to 6-4-2 on the season.  This was McReynolds second Player of the Week nod.

Women’s Soccer (Offensive)

Montgomery was a key in the Webster offense as the Gorloks close out the regular season with an undefeated conference mark. Montgomery scored a goal in each of her team’s two games on the week. She helped the Gorloks extend their lead in a 3-0 win at Greenville and then netted the game-winning goal, the 12th of her career, in a 2-0 win over Fontbonne. Montgomery’s goal against Fontbonne was her 39th as a Gorlok, and gave her 100 points for her career at Webster as well.  She is second on the team with eight goals this season. This was the third time Montgomery has been selected as Player of the Week, being named in 2012 and 2013 also.

Women’s Soccer (Defensive)

Davis recorded two more shutouts as her team won, 3-0, at Greenville and 2-0 over Fontbonne. Davis recorded one save in her win against Greenville and added two saves in the win over Fontbonne. She extended her scoreless streak in the net to 405-minutes in her last five games, having shutouts in her last four starts.  Webster wrapped up a perfect record in the SLIAC at 9-0 for the second straight year. Davis improved to 7-2-2 on the year, with a 0.67 goals against average, and has a career record of 41-13-3, with 31 shutouts. Her win and shutout totals are both Webster career records.  This was Davis’ sixth time chosen as Player of the Week in her career.
