Undefeated…Again! Women’s Soccer Sweeps SLIAC Schedule for 2nd Consecutive Year

Ashley Mess, a junior Advertising major and defender on the women’s soccer team, provided a window into the final week of the team’s undefeated SLIAC season during her turn steering the MyWebsterU Instagram account.

Finishing the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season undefeated for a second straight season, the Webster University women’s soccer team defeated Fontbonne University, 2-0, on Nov. 1 at the Soccer Park. The Gorloks wound up 9-0 in the SLIAC, extending their regular season winning streak to 19 in the conference.

Senior Kristin Mongtomery opened scoring in the fifth minute with her eighth goal of the season — and 39th overall, giving her 100 points for her career.

For the Gorloks, it was their eighth shutout in nine SLIAC contests, outscoring conference teams, 51-1 on the season.  Webster, who is ranked 10th in the most recent Central Region rankings, finishes the regular season at 12-4-3 overall.

Webster will host a first-round match of the SLIAC women’s soccer tournament on Nov. 5 at the Soccer Park at 6 p.m..

Ashley Mess, a junior Advertising major and defender on the soccer team, chronicled some of the events from the team’s past week through the MyWebsterU Instagram account, which was created by Global Marketing & Communications to showcase the Webster University experience through the eyes of students and social media.

Each week a different student steers the account, and last week Mess showed some of the scenes, from the team’s wins over Greenville and Fontbonne, to other moments in the life of a Webster student athlete.
