United Way Campaign

United Way Campaign

Today marks the midpoint of the 2014 Webster University United Way campaign that concludes Oct. 24. Thanks to the generosity of faculty, staff and administrators, we have met 62 percent of our goal, raising nearly $35,000.

This week we celebrated 20 years of Webster Works Worldwide – our annual day of community service. Many of the participating organizations that benefited from our volunteerism on this day are United Way-funded organizations. In fact, in some cases, United Way funding can comprise most of an organization’s operating budget. The United Way partners with more than 170 local agencies, with the United Way of Greater St. Louis serving 16 counties in Illinois and Missouri and a population of nearly 3 million people.

How To Give

As we celebrate our University’s 20-year history of community service, let’s not forget our almost 40-year history of charitable giving to the United Way.

The Webster University campaign’s success depends on the participants from our university community. To donate, you can simply follow the personalized link in the email you received on Sept. 22, or log in to Connections and click on the United Way link.

First-week drawing winners received hand-spun wood pens made by CFO Greg Gunderson from the Century tree, which once stood in the Webster/Loretto Hall courtyard.

Community Incentives: Drawings, Department Lunch with the President

Congratulations to the first three winners of last week’s random drawing of donors. Each received a Century Tree pen, hand-spun by CFO Greg Gunderson.

To create some fun and friendly competition among departmental units, President Beth Stroble has announced she will host a lunch for the unit with the highest United Way contribution.

Also, for the unit that achieves 100 percent participation — a Gorlok cookie reception.

It’s technology week for the campaign — and this week’s random drawing winners are:

  • Katie Knetzer, Student Affairs, winning a set of Bose SoundLink  Mini Bluetooth speakers
  • Holly Hubenschmidt, Emerson Library, winning a Kindle Fire HDX 7″ 16 GB Tablet
  • Ralph Olliges, School of Education, winning a 7″ 8GB Android tablet

Congratulations to everyone, and thank you for participating in this campaign!
