Family Rights-Themed Film Series Ends Sept. 30 with ‘Des Parents Pas Comme Les Autres’

The Institute for Human Rights & Humanitarian Studies film festival, “Tuesdays in September,” with its focus on the theme of family rights ends with the fifth and final film in the series, Des Parents Pas Comme Les Autres (Same Sex Parents). The screening is Tuesday Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. in the Winifred Moore Auditorium, free and open to the public.

Des Parents Pas Comme Les Autres (Same Sex Parents) (2001, 90 minutes, M6 Metropole Television) is a narrative French film where we meet Olympe, whose parents are gay. As Olympe explores her own sexuality with her boyfriend, a jealous friend “outs” Olympe’s mother as a lesbian.

Lionel Cuille, the Jane and Bruce Robert Chair in French and Francophone Studies at Webster University will present a discussion of current LGBT family policies in France.
