Centennial - Alma mater contest

A cash prize of $2,500 will be awarded to the winning entrant, whose song will be unveiled at Commencement 2015.

Webster University is hosting an Alma Mater Contest open to Webster University faculty, staff, student body and alumni. Celebrating 100 years and counting for the Webster University Centennial, the creation of a new Alma Mater will better represent the mission of our university in the 21st century.

Faculty, staff, students and alumni are invited to submit alma mater contest proposals through Feb. 1, 2015. The new Webster Alma Mater will be announced at commencement in May 2015 and a $2,500 prize will be awarded to its creator.

The Alma Mater Team (composed of students, faculty, and alumni) will select from three to five finalist submissions based on the overall quality of the lyrics and music. Members of the team will pay particular attention to the appropriateness of the lyrics (celebrating Webster’s mission, vision, and values) as well as to the marriage of lyrics and music.

The new alma mater will be chosen by the President and other senior academic and student leadership. In the event that fewer than three submissions are found to be acceptable either by the Team, or by the University, the Contest may be extended and deadlines adjusted accordingly.

See the Centennial site for more details on this contest and how to submit.
